Cambodia has emerged as the world`s second-largest producer of raw cashew nuts, with an impressive 830,000 tonnes produced in the first seven months of 2024, according to the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC).
This significant growth is attributed to the crops adapting to the El Nino phenomenon and a slight increase in cultivation areas.
The country`s exports to Viet Nam reached over 780,000 tonnes, generating $1.092 billion, marking a 36.7% increase in volume and a 28.1% rise in value.
This achievement not only positions Cambodia as a leading player in the global cashew market but also highlights the potential for increased foreign investment in local processing facilities.
The CAC is actively seeking investments to align with the National Cashew Policy 2022-2027, aiming to boost job creation, reduce reliance on brokers, and provide value-added benefits to local farmers.
