The 21st China International Agricultural Trade Fair (CATF), hosted by the MARA, successfully concluded on Dec. 1 in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
This year’s event attracted nearly 50,000 buyers and over 100,000 visitors, setting a new record. Preliminary data indicates the signing of 539 letters of intent, with trade contracts valued at 23.6 billion yuan.
This year’s CATF featured the following key highlights:
1. Enhanced Role in Promoting Trade
The fair featured 12 exhibition areas with nearly 3,000 companies showcasing over 20,000 products. A National Agro-Product Buyers Alliance was established, and a dedicated area facilitated direct connections between producers and buyers. Guangdong Province invited 3,000 buyers from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for matchmaking events. Livestream selling by domestic and international influencers generated online revenue of 120 million yuan.
2. Dedicated Area for Supporting Poorer Regions
For the first time, the CATF featured a dedicated exhibition area showcasing products from regions previously designated as impoverished by the Chinese government. Nearly 300 enterprises from these areas presented their unique offerings. Preliminary statistics indicate that on-site contracts exceeded a total value of 100 million yuan.
3.Strengthened guiding role in Agricultural Development
CATF hosted forums, press releases, and sharing sessions to promote agricultural modernization and high-quality development. A forum on strengthening agriculture shared insights on modern, green, and smart agriculture, alongside financial support for rural areas. More than 40 themed events covered agricultural branding, cold chain logistics, and smart agriculture. This year’s CATF released the 2024 China report on cold chain logistics in agro-product production areas, the premium agricultural brand building program list, and agricultural big data software systems.
4.Increased International Participation
The fair welcomed over 60 companies from 15 countries in its international exhibition area, meeting hall, and food street, showcasing hundreds of agro-products. Kazakhstan, the guest of honor, signed multiple agreements with the Chinese side in areas such as grain and oil processing, livestock, and feed production. CATF serves as a platform for global "big buyers" to expand networks and partnerships.
5.Expanded Media Influence
Coverage of this year’s CATF was extensive, with reports from nearly 100 domestic and 50 international media outlets, significantly boosting its global visibility. Related articles have been reposted over 20,000 times, reaching an audience of over 200 million.
